By Olivia Pierson Hassan Nasrallah, the brutal leader of the terrorist party Hezbollah (the Party of God), deservedly met with his death alongside the brigadier general of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Abbas Nilforoushan, at the hands of the Israeli Defense Force last month, when they carried out a targeted air strike on the death-cult’s headquarters in southern Beirut. Under Nasrallah’s leadership since 1992, Hezbollah became a political party as well as a global terrorist organisation responsible for the killing and maiming of thousands and thousands of people including Israeli, Syrian, American, Argentinian and Lebanese civilians. His ultimate loyalty lay in his devotion to the Ayatollah, the Supreme Leader of Iran, who considered Nasrallah indispensable in the “fight against Western values” in the Middle East. Civilian attacks, assassinations, suicide bombings, the use of human shields, the propping up of the Baathist regime of Bashar Al Assad in Syria and widespread sectarian violence is Nasrallah’s blood-drenched legacy. Under his leadership, Hezbollah conducted numerous attacks targeting Israeli civilians, including rocket strikes and suicide bombings, particularly during conflicts such as the 2006 Lebanon War. Hezbollah, in its earlier form along with terror group Islamic Jihad, was responsible for the 1983 bombings of the US embassy - a mass casualty event. The resulting blast from a car bomb killed 32 Lebanese workers, 17 Americans, and 14 other civilians. Among the Americans killed were a journalist and eight members of the CIA. The group has a history of kidnapping foreign nationals, including journalists and diplomats, using them as leverage for political and military gains. In 2005 the terror group assassinated the former president of Lebanon, Rafic Hariri, along with killing 21 others - and Nasrallah protected the man who carried it out, Salim Ayyash, from being arrested. Nasrallah was nothing but an evil, theocratic terrorist living in once Christian Lebanon, that was heavily colonised by Moslem invaders, mostly from Syria and Iran. Christians are now a persecuted minority and have been since the ‘90s. Yet, after his death, which was actually a blessing to the cause of decency, a revolting thing happened in Western media. His horrific legacy was whitewashed with headlines written in either neutral or outrightly admiring tones: Towering Figure; Charismatic and shrewd; Revered; Moderate; An astute strategist - are just some of the terms used to describe this heinous butcher in the Western press. The New York Times wrote this: Over his 32 years leading the organization, and with the support of Iran, he built Hezbollah into a domestic political force and one of the most heavily armed non state forces in the world. Mr. Nasrallah was opposed to Israel, which he called “the Zionist entity,” and maintained that there should be one Palestine with equality for Muslims, Jews and Christians. A powerful orator, he was beloved among many Shiite Muslims, a historically marginalized group in the Arab world, and created a state within a state in Lebanon that provided social services. French paper Le Monde wrote this: With his black turban, reserved for descendants of the Prophet, thin glasses and thick salt-and-pepper beard, Hassan Nasrallah has been the face of Hezbollah for over three decades. At the head of this militia dedicated to armed struggle against Israel, which has become a state above the Lebanese state, the Shiite leader has held the fate of the country in his hands, in war and in peace. I’m glad to see that OpIndia took this matter up in a piece they published titled: “Glorifying terrorists as martyrs: How Western media is whitewashing Hezbollah chief Nasrallah’s bloodstained legacy and portraying him as a ‘charismatic’ crusader”: For many a media outlet in the West, most notably The Guardian, New York Times, Le Monde, and other notorious publications, the assassination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah provided an opportunity to paint the terrorist as a 'martyr', and thereby feeding into the antagonism harboured against Israel among several quarters. And that is indeed what is happening here, many Western publications are so steeped in rabid antisemitism that this is their way of being antagonistic to the state of Israel in a passive-aggressive fashion. Hassan Nasrallah was just as much of a demonically possessed killer of innocent people as Iran’s Ayatollah currently is, that’s why they were great friends, so let that be the final word on the man.

I agree that it's deceitful to 'whitewash' the memory of a figure who led a terrorist organization and described the abominable attack on Israel as 'resistance' or 'liberation.' And I find it impossible to believe that if a Palestinian state was set up there would be equality for Jews, Muslims and Christians. The hatred shown towards Jewish people and to Western Christians is too great to believe that.

The old story, Andrew. If the Arabs laid down their weapons, there'd be no war. If the Israelis laid down their weapons, there'd be no Israel.

Thank you for cutting through all the b.s., Olivia, and uncovering the truth about this monster. You are one of the leaders of the "New Media" that will one day replace the phenomenally corrupt legacy media we are currently enduring. Keep up the great work! You continue to inspire and educate me and countless others. - Mike Gemmell
