First published on Insight@theBFD 20/08/2020 Cures for COVID-19 already exist, yet within the scientific community doctors who use these cures – and claim out loud to have success with them in something as important as saving lives – are written off as “quacks” peddling conspiracy theories. Then they’re often silenced. At a summit last month known as America’s Frontline Doctors, a group of medical professionals put their long-standing reputations on the line by claiming in no uncertain terms that COVID has a cure in the form of Hydroxychloroquine, Zinc and Azithromycin (Z-pac). Their video was removed from YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites who placed in their stead Orwellian little messages along the lines of: “This video has been removed for violating Community Guidelines.” Dr. Simone Gold, one of the doctors in the video, was fired from her job as an emergency room physician, with 20 years of experience, for appearing in it, as if to do so were some egregious crime against humanity. As an aside, it’s worth noting that SARS-Cov1 and SARS-Cov2 (COVID-19) share 80% similar genetic material. SARS had a higher fatality rate than COVID, but COVID is a more vicious pandemic due to contagion rates as so many people are asymptomatic and spread it without so much as a sniffle. SARS proved itself not fit for the human race and died out within a year of its appearance thanks to good hygiene and quarantine rules being placed around it. In 2005, Dr. Fauci himself touted hydroxychloroquine as an effective inhibitor for SARS and other coronaviruses. Another doctor who appears in the same video as Dr. Gold is Dr. Dan Erickson, one of the Bakersfield doctors whose own press release to disclose his thoughts about treating the virus was also censored by the Big Tech Inquisition and swiftly removed by YouTube. The main thrust of his press release that he conducted with his colleague Dr. Artin Massihi back in April, was that “a much higher percentage of people were infected with the virus and showed no symptoms, thus the true danger of the virus may have been greatly exaggerated by the media, and lockdown policies could – through poverty, suicide and stress – potentially cause more damage than they prevent.” Never a truer word was spoken. In July, Greek-American Professor, Dr. John Ioannidis of Stanford University, whose scientific research has made contributions to evidence-based medicine and epidemiology especially in the study of meta-research in clinical medicine, arrived at the same conclusion as Dr. Erickson. Dr. Ioannidis stated that the modellers for predictions in Covid-19 were “astronomically wrong.” Ioannidis said in July: “There are already more than 50 studies that have presented results on how many people in different countries and locations have developed antibodies to the virus… of course none of these studies are perfect, but cumulatively they provide useful composite evidence. A very crude estimate might suggest that about 150-300 million or more people have already been infected around the world, far more than the 10 million documented cases.” Dr Richard Bartlett of Texas has been treating his COVID patients with an asthma medication called Budesonide, which is an anti-inflammatory steroid that can be inhaled straight into the lungs. He claims to have a 100 per cent cure rate, even with patients who have severe underlying medical conditions such as cancer and diabetes. He calls it the “silver bullet” to kill COVID. Budesonide is a well known, well-tolerated drug that is also inexpensive. Dr. Bartlett’s in-depth interview clip was also wiped from YouTube. Thankfully, a video that was made about the video remains accessible in order to hear Dr. Bartlett explain in his own words his experience in treating and curing COVID patients right across Texas. An Australian Doctor, Professor Thomas Borody, Medical Director of Australia’s Center for Digestive Disease, claims that he too has a cure for COVID – a parasite treatment called Ivermectin which he uses in conjunction with zinc and the antibiotic Doxycycline. “It looks like corona is very simple to kill,” said Professor Borody on a Sky News interview. According to Borody, the drug works as both a prophylactic and a cure which has few to zero side effects. Professor Borody does not understand why the inexpensive drug has not yet been used to treat the second-wave of the virus that is currently the reason for Victoria’s second draconian lockdown. I wonder how long Professor Borody’s Sky News interview will remain up on YouTube? This shocking pattern of censorship that doctors are experiencing from the Big Tech Inquisition is anti the very spirit of science itself. Who the hell are these uppity little overlords who choose for us what information we’re allowed to contemplate digesting? But little is more dejecting than the spectacle of the NZ media’s addiction to panic porn. Each day in the COVID-19 Media Conference they direct the attention of people to mindless, silly questions such as these: “Could you please elaborate on what a lockdown level 1.5 could look like?” “What are the penalties for businesses which don’t have QR codes displayed prominently?” “Are any officials going to be going around to make sure these posters are up?” “What do you think about Donald Trump’s comment on the new surge of COVID in New Zealand?” “Do you think people on Facebook are doing enough to stop the spread of misinformation?” (There’s a fan of the Inquisition right there, along with its biggest fan PM Ardern.) Rather than this insipid and platitudinous line of “questioning,” they should be gleaning information on behalf of us by peppering our Prime Minister, our Director General of Health and our Health Minister with important questions such as: “Which medications have you made available to the sick in our country during this pandemic?” “What groundbreaking new medications do you have your eye on that can help?” “Does our government have a plan for New Zealanders to achieve herd immunity so our borders can be reopened to the world?” “Will China continue to be our largest trading partner after unleashing a deadly virus on us?” “Will repeated lockdowns continue to be your major response every time the virus re-emerges?” Why is there not any intense curiosity about successful treatments being used in other parts of the world? Why do people prefer instead to have their human rights removed at the same time as remaining incurably addicted to daily panic porn? I say again that strong evidence exists around the world that COVID-19 is a highly curable virus that may not even need a vaccine to wipe it out. First published on Insight@theBFD 13/08/202 In an extremely prophetic article on the 8th August titled, “What a Hopeless Bunch of Sheep We Are,” Christie, who writes for the BFD, relayed this anecdote: “I know someone who came out of quarantine in an Auckland hotel a couple of weeks ago. He had the required tests on Day 3 and Day 12 but was intermingling with people at all stages of their quarantine throughout his stay. Just to clarify, on Day 13, he was intermingling with people who were on Day 2 of their quarantine, and were, so far, untested. Does that sound like a recipe for community transmission to you? Because it certainly does to me.” Noting that Ashley Bloomfield was telling us to stock up on masks, though there were no cases of community transmission in New Zealand as he gave that advice, Christie reported that mask manufacturers such as Christchurch company Earth Sea Sky were suddenly receiving a lot of orders to the tune of “120 orders per hour.” There remains no evidence that face masks prevent the spread of COVID-19, and in other countries, most notably the United States, to-mask or not-to-mask has become a viciously divisive issue to many who consider the practise of covering their natural breathing apparatus with cloth to be intrusive and a personal affront to their individual liberty. They’ve had to suffer being called “murderers” and “killers” as they go about their daily errands to just live. During our autumn months, New Zealanders got through a six-week level-4 lockdown without mask-wearing even being a thing, except for those who wanted to wear them. Suddenly the message encouraging us to wear them in public has become a repetitive mantra through our media machine over the last week alone and the astute amongst us were asking what it was exactly that the government might know that we the public do not. Then, like a bolt out of the blue, another lockdown was imposed on us yesterday via messages from civil defense blaring through our cell phones. One month out from our election, and with her face carefully arranged in that unimpeachably sincere expression we all know so well (talk about face masks!), Jacinda Ardern swanned back onto her familiar COVID platform to enact the messianic psychodrama of “protecting New Zealanders,” while those in the opposition party are busy cancelling their campaign meetings so that the virus doesn’t spread. Cynical? You bet. In her insightful article, Christie went on to explain: “But the fact is that the government is doing one of two things. Either they are aware of the significant risk of community transmission through inadequate controls at the border, or they are hoping that the physical wearing of masks by more people will put us all back into a state of fear. This is their election winning strategy; let’s face it, they have no other plan. But if they have in fact allowed community transmission by improper controls at the border, then they deserve the wrath of the people to fall on them. New Zealanders did what they were told and stayed home, observed good hygiene and physical distancing and eliminated the virus. All the government had to do after that was to control the border. By allowing infected people in quarantine to mingle with non-infected people, they may have failed us. This would hardly be a surprise. They have failed at everything else.” And there you have it. This government’s strategy of addressing the Chinese virus with lockdowns whenever it pops up is nothing more than a strategy for national economic suicide. It’s utterly untenable – and for those who always respond in a frankly puerile fashion by saying, “Ardern is only doing what all government leaders around the world are also doing,”… remember when we were small children caught doing something stupid or plain wrong by our mothers and we defended ourselves by saying, “But so-and-so did it too!” You could always bet on the fact that Mum would parse that with, “And if everyone else jumped off the Harbour Bridge, would you do that too?” Leaders enforcing lockdowns and forcing business owners to kamikaze their livelihoods over the Chinese virus are doing nothing but the moral equivalent of herding lemming-like humans off a precipice. Where are all the sensible Mums out there to tell us that this is not only profoundly wrong but also damn stupid? Well, I’m here saying exactly that. Obeying lockdowns is no way to live and no way to combat a virus. We have a much clearer view of the science around this virus than we had back in March, when the whole world panicked – except for the more thoughtful leadership in the countries of Sweden and Taiwan. PM Ardern is a one-trick little pony, and it was a gig that worked for her once on a reeling population full of sheeple. But now that the virus is again swilling around in our community after 100 days of being undetected, it’s obvious that it must’ve come through our borders and our government’s crappy quarantine process. That’s 100% Ardern’s fault, as is the decision to lock us down because of it. Opposition leader Judith Collins said today that she agreed “lockdown is the right thing to do,” but is concerned that the impact will be devastating. Indeed. Devastating it is, and for that reason alone Judith should have better sense to know and say that lockdown is not the right thing to do. I will only vote for a political leader who is opposed to lockdowns on principle and would encourage my fellow citizens to do likewise. This is not a matter for compromise over something so alien – and destructive – to our way of life. If you enjoyed this article, please buy my book "Western Values Defended: A Primer"

First published on Insight@theBFD 8/8/2020 [Author’s edit: this article was written before NZ was put into another lockdown on August 12th.] When it comes to a national response to dealing with COVID-19, it’s no secret that I abhor lockdowns. I’m opposed to their liberty-crushing nature in principle. Back in March, nearly all world leaders panicked, then pathetically implemented the virus-combatting playbook of Communist China, the very country which sent forth this plague to begin with. Taiwan, which sits only 100-miles off the south-eastern coast of China, so successfully and swiftly contained the virus, that it’s been dishing out advice to other countries’ health departments ever since. With only 457 cases and 7 deaths in a population of 23 million people who live on an island that measures only 12,456 square miles (NZ is 103,737), Taiwan put technology and past experience to work effectively and were the ones to first alert the WHO that a strange and lethal new strain of “pneumonia” was on the rise in China. Closely monitoring Chinese social media platforms such as Weibo and WeChat alerted Taiwan early to the fact that a novel virus was brewing in Wuhan. Dr. Li Wenliang, the Chinese doctor who first warned his medical colleagues about the virus before being shut down by his own government for “disturbing the public order” posted his findings to PTT Bulletin Board, originally founded in Taiwan. Dr. Li died allegedly from COVID-19 soon after, but his posts were noticed by a health officer in Taiwan named Philip Lo, who raised the alarm in Taiwan. By January 1st, 2020, Taiwan was already actively screening all passengers flying in from Wuhan. By February, it had banned all incoming flights and ships from China. Only Taiwanese citizens were allowed to enter the country. Having learned hard lessons from the 2003 SARS epidemic, Taiwan knew that many people carrying coronaviruses are often asymptomatic. This knowledge served to help them never miss a case when people presented no symptoms. Mandatory and closely policed 14-day quarantines were implemented for citizens coming from high-risk areas, with medical care, food and lodging paid for by the government and delivered to their doors. Integrating data from health insurance providers with immigration and customs to track recent travellers, Taiwan was able to alert officials to early cases by linking them with doctors’ visits. These methods were all well in place by the beginning of March. Along with price-fixing government-made PPE, in order to avoid opportunistic price hikes, and mobile apps to let citizens across the country, from village to village, know which pharmacies and drug-stores were well-stocked, Taiwan managed to get through this pandemic without a lockdown. Businesses, schools and day-cares stayed open (except for several weeks during February) with strict hygiene measures in place – masks, temperature guns, hand-sanitisers and social distancing. Taiwan’s response and results are remarkable, but it hinged on a high level of government oversight and herd immunity amongst the large population is neither a goal, nor a likelihood. Sweden, on the other hand, another country which did not believe in crushing its economy over a flu pandemic, took an entirely different approach. Unlike Taiwan, the Swedish government did not take an invasive approach and certainly didn’t believe in forcing people to wear masks etc. They opted for a good faith, high-trust model, in keeping with the fact that they are a capitalist, social democracy. They did not initiate a sweeping lockdown. The rest of the world, especially those under Draconian lockdowns, love to hate Sweden for this non-conformist method of dealing with the pandemic and often highlight its death-toll while salivating over articles such as this one in USA Today, which contain chop-licking statements like these: “And yet, the Swedish death rate is unnerving. Sweden has a death toll greater than the United States: 556 deaths per million inhabitants, compared with 425, as of July 20. Sweden also has a death toll more than four and a half times greater than that of the other four Nordic countries combined — more than seven times greater per million inhabitants. For a number of weeks, Sweden has been among the top in the world when it comes to current reported deaths per capita. And despite this, the strategy in essence remains the same.” What the article fails to note is that Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy (and Peru) all have higher death tolls than Sweden, yet these countries have had in place very strict lockdowns and mandatory masks and PPE. France’s death stats, along with Brazil’s, are also close on the heels of Sweden’s. So lockdowns are not the defining factor in smashing COVID; they are a defining factor in smashing economies - and lives. Because 50% of deaths in all countries are the elderly (those over 70) with underlying health conditions who live in nursing homes or have assisted care visits, the best measure of all to avoid deaths is to vigilantly quarantine this vulnerable sector of society until herd immunity is reached with the rest of the population and the virus dies out. Sweden now borders this enviable destination – and with its economy intact. Meanwhile in a country like New Zealand, which has been heralded for a lockdown that seemingly eradicated the virus, leaving a fairly low death rate in its wake (and no herd immunity), there is no telling how long the country can tolerate the chronic isolation of closed borders and the economic destruction that brings with it. Far from being transparent, our government manipulates the economic data in a cynical attempt to convince Kiwis that there are no bad consequences from lockdown, so if we have to do it again, it will all be fine. Humbug! Exhibit A: This week New Zealand put out its official unemployment rate at a suspiciously innocuous 4.0%. This figure is grossly deceptive as it does not count the hundreds of thousands of people still buoyed up by wage subsidies which end next month, neither does it reflect the reality that during lockdown people were not recorded as “actively seeking employment” because the economy was closed for six to eight weeks. Even our “experts” are now curiously reminding us that New Zealand remains extremely vulnerable to a second wave of COVID, which can only come through our border since we live surrounded by a giant moat, and they’ve told us that we eliminated the virus. There remains no plan in place to even attempt the reopening of our borders and many of us know that the economic shakedown has not yet happened but looms for 2021- but let’s sit back and congratulate ourselves that at least another 90-year-old with Alzheimer’s, diabetes and a dicky heart might live to see out another few months of breathing. If lockdowns and mandatory masks worked as significant factors in quelling COVID, Belgium would not be the country which leads the world in the most deaths per capita.
